My name is tammy kent and i just love the homestead pics. My parents are robert clay sansing and florea henderson sansing, her parents were john cornelius henderson and flora alberta lewis, her parents, My great grandparents were grady lewis and alma lela mccool lewis her parents were horace riley mccool and laura kathryn dawkins mccool his parents were peter mccool and aleviapalmeliva foster mccool (actual name-not a typo) his parents were benjamin mccool and mary tatum mccool and i think his parents were thomas mccool and sarah gentry mccool. i live in carrollton, pickens county, alabama. While doing research on my family i have tried to include as much about the wives families as time permits – its been more than interesting – best so far definitely mary tatum mccool (wife of benjamin) is descendent of nathaniel tatum who immigrated to us before the mayflower by 1&1/2 years aboard the ship “the george”. Its also funny to note that my mother & fathers families actually crossed marital pathes many generations bfore them as the cowley family connection. Supposedly a member of the cowley family built a quilt box that i have, for my dads mother, mary adele george sansing. The older i get the smaller this world gets. My dads family is from bibb co. Alabama

It Is Still a good email Tammy.

I have quite a bit of history on the McCool Family tree but don’t see any names that ring a bell. My mother was a McCool …Norma McCool. Her Dad was Thomas E …both born in Chichester Twp in Pontiac County in Quebec ..his dad was James and His Dad was James ( we call him James Sr) and HE emigrated to Canada from County Donegal in Ireland. His dad was Michael McCool and we are still trying to track his ancestors. (he was born late 1700’s)

If you have any McCool family info please forward to me anytime. I will put you on the family email list for McCool information if you are interested.

        Let me know

        Cheers

I would like more information from the person who says they have Mary Adele Sansing’s quilt box. I am Mary Adele’s Great Granddaughter. My mother took care of her till her death and was given her quilt box and was told the story about how Mary Adele got it, if there is another quilt box we’d love to hear about it. My email is Taylorfaith567@gmail.com
    Thank you.

This is a great blog! I just traced my husband’s roots back to the John McCool and the homestead. However, I can’t find anything beyond that. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would love the assistance! We are planning to travel to Ireland in 2016 to see it and as much of Ireland as we can.

I am stuck and need some help tracing my tree. My mother was Norma McCool, Her father T.E. McCool was born in Sheenboro, Quebec June 25,1887. His Father was James McCool, DOB May14. 1851 in Chichester Quebec. His father was also a James McCool DOB,Oct 1, 1817 in Cullionboy, County Donegal in Ireland. He is the emigrant and my GGGrandfather. I can’t reach back any further than his father, (my GGGG) Michael McCool, approx. DOB 1780. Michael was married in 1809 to Maria Flanagan (DOB approx 1780) probably in the Donegal town area, likely at St. Agatha’s Catholic church on the main Hwy near Cullionboy just north of Donegal town.
What we know of Michael is he married Maria and they had 5 children from 1810- 1823 approx. Besides James, they are Charles, Edward, Francis and a girl Mary. She was married in Aylmer, Quebec to John Rooney. Her brother James was a witness. Francis is buried across the Ottawa river in Pembroke, Ontario (it’s about 100 miles west of Ottawa). Edward was thought to have emigrated to the same area and later returned to Ireland where he is buried in Donegal town.
    Charles never left the island.

If any of this rings a bell, let me know. I have over 800 entries on my tree I will share. I am using Family Tree Maker Version 11. I’d love to trace my lineage back before Michael McCooland Maria Flanagan.

Greetings from northern California cousins. My mother was Mable McCool. Her father Lewis Hess McCool. His David. all the way back to John McCoole Jr and Sr. I really am happy to know that you all exist. The Google Earth image of my 6th Great Grandfather, John McCoole Sr. shows the neighboring farms. Do the owners of these farms know something about our McCoole’s? Love ,Tricia
